Connections, Delays. . .The worst of my days.

Another travel blog. I know you love these.

I had the pleasure of sitting next to a great friend of mine on my first flight this morning. We chatted the whole way. It put me in a great mood. We were even delayed by about an hour but it didn’t mess up my entire life as it usually does.

We part ways when we get to the airport in which we will take our second planes to our final destinations.

I head to my gate, wait for a bit, and then board only 20 minutes passed our original take off time. Impressed, I have a hop in my step and the corners of my mouth are turned upwards. Note: I was not smiling. I tend to not smile in the airports for fear of what happened during the Thanksgiving travels with Starbucks crazy. I mean lady.

So I get to my seat. I’m sitting next to an older couple that have been quiet and east to sit near. The only awkward incident was when the flight attendant came over the loud speaker to update us on our delay. Oldie next to me didn’t hear so she craned her neck and stuck her face in my face and asked me what he said, I hadn’t heard either because I choose to block that stuff out.

What was more interesting (read: extremely annoying) was the sisters sitting behind me, Jill and Betty. They were probably both in their late 30’s. Extremely loud talkers. One recited a poem about a prick on ones nose but I was half asleep during the recital and dreamed she was talking about the ‘mark of the beast’. It was weird.

What was really great was when they broke into song. Jingle Bells. Ohh geez. I was not, NOT, impressed. Call me bitter, but I just don’t think it’s appropriate to sing Jingle Bells while we are waiting on the runway to take off and HAVE BEEN waiting for over an hour. Just sit, be quiet, get a blog to write for. You can write about that blonde girl who should smile more.

After the song they applauded themselves and laughed and laughed just as jolly as ever. I did not applaud. Neither did the oldies next to me. I think the three of us are tight.

I will, of course, update with more travel endeavors. But if I don’t write before Christmas: Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
